HANDS ON

Here's the Wild Shores co-founder fitting the panels together which will be the structure for the walls.

PLANKS

Our rescue cat Sokoni inspecting the fresh coconut planks.

HANDS ON

Henry sanding the coconut planks for the banda.

kumba

Here's Dotto attaching the Kumba panels to the wooden structure to form walls. The material is lights, allowing wind flow through the banda. Natural air-con!

COCONUT TIMBER

Rujabu and Awazi cutting down palm trees. We use the timber and replant three trees for each one we cut down.

STAFF BANDA

Using coconut timber,we cut the planks to size then planed and sanded each one. We

formed ready made panels using the wood, which temporarily sit on upcycled bags full of sand.

RECYCLED GLASS

We support a socially conscious project in northern Tanzania who employ people with disabilities to create jewellery, glassware and homeware. All their products are made from recycled glass and all the glassware you will see at the Wild Shores is from this amazing project.

BMU

Henry with the village's newly elected BMU (Beach Management Unit) who tackle issues such as dynamite fishing.

ROOTS & SHOOTS

One example of the seeds that were planted at one of the primary schools in our area through the Roots & Shoots club we started.

PANGANI'S PLASTIC

We take our left over plastic that we don't use from our beach cleans to Paulo. He started the only centre in the district where people can take their plastic. It provides a small income to families who can take their plastic to him. If Paulo's centre didn't exist, much more plastic would be burnt in our area.

VILLAGE NURSERY

We sponsor the nursery in our village. It's free for the children to attend and they are not supported by the government, which means they do not have an income. We pay the teacher's salary and help with repairs. In the future, we would like to provide a bore hole so they can have running water, which will enable them to grow fruit and vegetables to sell as a way to fundraise for the nursery.

ROOTS & SHOOTS

Jane Goodall's Roots & Shoots came to visit the primary schools in the area to tell them all about the club and the importance of our environment!

ROOTS & SHOOTS

We have helped start a Roots & Shoots club run by the Jane Goodall Foundation in the two primary schools in our area. The children are enthusiastic, but funding for gardening tools and other needs can be a challenge. If you would like to help, please get in contact.
